======================================

A description of your current employer, your position, your duties and
responsibilities, and how they relate to current and future data
networking activities in your country*
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Regional Communication Infrastructure Program/Rwanda (RCIP/RW) is a project reporting to the Rwanda Development Board and the World Bank to help in establishment of high-capacity international telecommunications connectivity through bulk-purchased of capacity and Network Management and Availability for the Government use. my current position is Broadband Systems Specialist and i am mainly responsible of the design and Management of the Cisco based network in place; all this to reduce to time to respond whenever a fault occurs. The Government of Rwanda is being prepared to purchase a significant capacity of the internet Bandwidth to expand of the internet penetration within the country. Of course, this will be done with the support of the RCIP/RW team.

A brief description of your computing and networking environment (operating systems,
networking software, modems, etc.), including the connectivity of your organization
to the Internet and your country's connectivity to the international Internet*
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I spent most of the time on a Windows based machine. But i also use Linux/Unix computers for network monitoring. Working with Cisco equipments are part of my daily activities (7606,6500,1700...).2 years ago i dealt with Alcatel modems to build Leased line networks;Currently, i working with has purcased a 1 STM internet bandwidth capacity to deliver it to the Rwanda government institutions(105 of them so far), as part of short term lease. the intention is to purchase huge capacity to cover 3 times the number of organizations served so far.

How your training and current work prepare and qualify you for the track you wish to attend*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My network is 110 Layer 3 equipments big. and this to be expanded in a near future. The advanced routing track will be very helpful in the (re)design and monitoring of a more scalable network, also it will be a continuity of the Scalable Internet track i attended in 2009 in the AFNOG-10 in CAIRO.

How you expect to use the knowledge you gain at the workshop after you return to your country*
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will be done by (re)designing the network of my organization as well as reducing the time to respond whenever there is fault to repair. The second important thing will be the transfer of knowledge and Skills to my teammates.
